Mrs. Aline Bacon Womble, 94, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Westwood Nursing Center in Statesboro. Mrs. Womble was born on October 8, 1922 in Waycross, GA to the late Elder Archie Sterling and Ida Popham Hurst. She worked as a registered nurse in the Savannah area hospitals and in Waycross and was the caretaker for her mother until her death. She was a longtime member of Pembroke Christian Church, an excellent cook, had a green thumb and loved puzzles.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, John Bacon and Lee Womble and one daughter, Nancy Bacon Beasley.
She is survived by one son, Leo F. “Rusty” Womble, Jr. of Pittsboro, NC; daughter and two son-in-laws, Judy and Jimmy Cook of Pembroke and Wrence Beasley of Claxton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Jean Hurst of Douglas; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Howard Martin of Waverly; five grandchildren, Jay (Candice) Cook, Richard (Stephanie) Cook, Teresa (Mark) Cook Anderson, Angela (Kirk) Beasley Hendrix and O.W. (Dana) Beasley; ten great-grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Ernst, David Cook, Dalton Cook, Dakota Cook, Jordan Cook, Tal Cook, Hannah Cook, Austin Beasley, Madison Beasley and Rebecca Johnson; great-great granddaughter, Riley Ernst and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Sullivan officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
